Aaron Lauber

Licensed Mental Health Counselor, New York

A foggy winter forest with bare trees and sunlight shining through the mist.

Being with in the unfolding.

I've been doing this work for about ten years. What I've come to trust is that change, if that's even the right word, doesn't usually happen through technique or protocol. It happens in relationship. In the slow, often nonlinear process of being genuinely met by another person.

I work with people who are creative, queer, or neurodivergent, often some combination. People who have spent a lot of energy trying to fit into frameworks that weren't built for them, and who may have found that the well-trodden paths toward help haven't felt like paths at all. The work we do together tends to be relational, depth-oriented, and unhurried. I don't diagnose or treat. I accompany.

My thinking is informed by IFS, AEDP, relational psychoanalysis, Buddhist psychology, and Effortless Mindfulness. I'm also queer and neurodivergent, shaped by time in 12-step rooms and contemplative practice, which informs how I show up as much as any training does.

I also offer coaching and consultation to fellow therapists and helping professionals.
